RockTape Course

WAOTA is combining with RockTape to produce this one day course for OT’s.

RockTape is Australia’s number one selling brand of kinesiology tape, elastic therapeutic tape. RockTape was designed in the USA and is manufactured in South Korea, ensuring the highest quality control. RockTape HQ is here in Perth.

Unlike rigid tape which many people find too stiff and restrictive, RockTape is stretchy and is quickly becoming the preferred tape used by practitioners, as additional adjunct to treat injuries – by reducing pain and accelerating recovery. RockTape can also be used to enhance performance by improving form and technique, as well as reducing post-exercise soreness.

What does RockTape do? When applied correctly, RockTape’s unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This decompresses the tissue immediately below the skin. It is believed that this has three main effects:

  • Fluid effect- improving blood and lymphatic flow in the taped area
  • Mechanical effect- improving the slide and glide between tissue layers
  • Neurological effect- altering the perception of pain and improving body awareness

Key benefits of using RockTape:

  1. May assist to decrease pain
  2. May assist to reduce swelling
  3. Allows full range of movement
  4. Hypoallergenic – no zinc oxide or latex
  5. Water resistant – can be worn for up to 5 days

Key symptoms that RockTape might assist:

  1. Muscle pain or cramping
  2. Joint pain
  3. Poor posture
  4. Inflammation or bruising

RockTape courses teach a framework of kinesiology taping – concepts not recipes, so it’s much easier for attendees to apply clinically to their customer group – i.e. lower limb, upper limb, paediatric and geriatrics.

The content for the course includes:

  • how kinesiology tape works,
  • what practitioners are using kinesiology tape for,
  • why they are adding it as another technique in their consultations with patients, and
  • a demonstration of the various applications used by practitioners to assist with the treatment of
    • muscle injuries,
    • biomechanical dysfunction,
    • postural dysfunction and
    • oedema/Inflammation taping.
