Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist Salaried Position (part time 0.5 full time equivalent)

Melville Occupational Therapy and Extra Lesson for Children is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who has skills in the areas of:

  • Working with ages 0 to 4, sensory based intervention, circle of security, play skill development and other general paediatric OT areas.
  • Supervisory skills
  • Ability to critique evidence based practice and develop resources/ procedures
  • Knowledge of auditory intervention
  • Community based and clinic based intervention.

We see children between 0 to 18 with diagnoses of DCD/SPD, ASD, ADHD, anxiety/trauma, emotional regulation, learning difficulties, neurological related conditions and developmental delay.

We are a well-established and well-resourced private practice. We pride ourselves in providing a service that views the child holistically within the context of their environment. We do clinic, home and school based intervention as well as consultancy and advocacy.

The successful applicant of this part-time position will have a supervisory role, a clinical case load and will be involved in developing resources, procedures and professional development. This would suit an experienced OT re-entering the OT workforce or who is considering transferring from another area of OT and is motivated to build their experience.

SCGH is a 750 bed acute tertiary hospital.  It is home to WA’s only comprehensive cancer centre – the largest cancer treatment centre in the State – and is the state’s principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants. The Occupational Therapy department has leading services in Cancer, Acute Neurosciences, Emergency and Hand and Upper Limb therapy.

All Occupational Therapists at SCGH have expertise in cognition, pressure injury management and falls prevention in relation to occupational performance and the environment plus additional occupational therapy clinical skills relevant to the specialty they work in.

It is an exciting and challenging time in health; innovation is encouraged to proactively manage the increasing number and complexity of patients in acute care. Our Department is committed to engaging in Evidence Based Practice (EBP) and Quality Improvement projects in order to provide best quality care to our patients. With these opportunities plus a changing workforce of over 70 staff we are often seeking experienced OTs for casual and fixed term positions.

Most of our services are Monday –Friday  8am – 4pm however we also have after hours and weekend opportunities that may be suitable.

Occupational Therapist (Hand Therapy) / Senior Occupational Therapist

Specialised Hand Therapy Services with Cathy Thomas as practice owner and Director is a busy, highly regarded hand therapy private practice with clinics in West Perth, Subiaco, Joondalup, Midland, Murdoch, Rockingham, Armadale, Busselton and Albany.

We seek an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapist with previous experience in hand therapy to join our dynamic team of Occupational Therapists in our metro clinics. The position is for a full time therapist commencing August/early September. Previous experience in hand therapy clinical practice is essential.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a supportive team environment and directly with well-respected referring Hand Surgeons and others. The applicant needs to have a desire to work with a varied caseload which includes acute post-surgical work and upper limb trauma, sporting and degenerative conditions, within a variety of settings and locations. As a practice we are actively involved in research and quality assurance activities in the hand therapy field and strongly encourage participation in further professional development opportunities both within and outside our practice.
